A showcase of Chautauqua County for more than a century is under way again this week in Dunkirk.
This year's county fair includes the usual displays, farm animals and the popular demolition derby. But the 131st edition also includes some new events, including Beatle Magic on Wednesday evening, the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack show, which begins today, and Glenn Colton, Sunday performer, and the fireworks display to conclude the event.
Rides, foods and area businesses also round out the event. "Every year people say they can't wait to come back just to let their kids enjoy what we provide for them to do," said David Wilson, Chautauqua County Fair board member, regarding the agriculture tent near the entrance. "Once we get the children there, the parents start asking questions so we not only educate the children, but also the parents."
There's lots to learn - and see - this week at the fair.
