Shamia A. Tederous

Shamia A. Tederous, 81, of Dunkirk died Tuesday afternoon (July 24, 2012) at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk.

She was born Sept. 22, 1930 in Brummana, Lebanon, the daughter of the late David and Mona Hajj.

A licensed hairdresser for more than 48 years, Mrs. Tederous owned and operated Shami's Beauty Shop in Dunkirk.

She was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.

Mrs. Tederous was devoted to her family and dedicated to her job.

Survivors include three daughters, Joan (William) Cain of Gowanda, Theresa Kowalski of Baldwinsville and Helen (Dr. Walter) Markowitch of Pittsford; one son, Elias (Deborah) Tederous of Forestville; two brothers; one sister; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emil P. Tederous, who died July 24, 1997.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Entombment will be in the Resurrection Mausoleum of St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
