An anonymous donor has made a sizable donation to the D.R. Barker Library in Fredonia in memory of Anthony "Nin" St. George, former manager of the Off-Track Betting Parlor in Dunkirk and active with the Pomfret-Fredonia Democratic Committee. The donor asked that additional donations be given to the library in memory of Mr. St. George.

Thirty years ago - 1982

The youngest professional stunt driver in the nation, 13-year-old Joie Chitwood III, will drive a Chevy Chevette in this year's edition of "The Greatest Show on Wheels" at the Chautauqua County Fair. The youngest Chitwood broke into the show at age 5 driving a specially built miniature Corvette.

Forty years ago - 1972

The village of Fredonia has been cited for the fourth successive year by the American Automobile Association for its efforts in reducing pedestrian accidents and affecting pedestrian safety programs and activities.

Fifty years ago - 1962

George G. Schneider, past exalted ruler of Dunkirk Elks Lodge 922, has been appointed district deputy grand exalted ruler for the New York southwest district.
