Robert Charles "Bob" Jackson, age 90, of Chandler, Arizona passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 28th, 2012.
Husband of Mary Alice Fenwick Jackson for 64 years. Father of Charles Jackson and wife Joanne of Erie, PA, Robert J. Jackson of Phoenix, Christine Frazon and husband Jim of Chandler, and Scott Jack-son and wife Elaine of Wilmington, DE. Grandfather of Walter, Matthew,
Charles and wife Shauna, Kyle and wife Crystal, Tara, Britta, Aaron, Meredith, Becca and Brendon. Great-grandfather of Finn.
Born on August 12, 1921 in Ilion, New York, to Charles Jackson and Emma Weisbrod Jackson.
He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II including photographer during the invasion of Okinawa and the occupation of Sapporo, Hokkaido Japan. His shots were with a camera, not a gun.
Mr. Jackson graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Clarkson College (now Clarkson University) in Pottsdam,
New York. Bob met his wife on a blind date and was married while still in college.
He worked for Coles (later Stauffer) Chemicals in Skaneateles, New York and Joliet, Illinois and most memorably for Welch Foods in Westfield, New York. While at Welch's he was Project Manager for the largest cold storage tanks for grape juice ever built. He retired from
Welch's and moved to Chandler in 1984. He was active in the Knights of Columbus and was a 4th Degree Knight. Always an
avid photographer, his photographs are a treasured recording of family events and milestones. His family fondly remembers his love for his boat and their many outings on Lake Chautauqua in Western New York. Early in his retirement, Bob became expert at stained glass creations and his family will treasure the stained glass pieces that he has given them.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Steven's Roman Catholic Church in Sun Lakes at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 with a celebration of his life immediately following the Mass in the Church Hall. Burial is private.
