SOUTH DAYTON - Evelyn Marie Leach, 94, died Wednesday, August 01, 2012 at the Gowanda Rehab & Nursing Center, Gowanda, NY.

She was born July 19, 1918 in South Dayton, NY the daughter of the late Tilden D. and Cora Ella (Phelps) Ingersoll. A graduate of South Dayton High School, she was a retired secretarial worker for Ingersoll Delivery, where she worked for 15 years. she also worked at JN Adams in Perrysburg for 15 years. Evelyn was a member of the Chautauqua Co. Home Bureau and the Red Hatters. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Joan M. (Higley) Nobles of South Dayton, NY; her grandchildren: Barry (Lisa) Nobles of

Churchville, NY, Dawn (Sean) Ossont of Macedon, NY, Todd (Allyson) Markel of Bradenton, FL, Travis (Sherry) Markel of Prince George, VA, Troy (Danielle) Markel of Titusville, FL; a son-in-law, Richard Markel of Winter Park, FL; her great grandchildren, Colin Nobles, Luke Nobles and Taylor Nobles, all of Churchville, NY, Reese Ossont, Cooper Ossont and Eilee Ossont, all of Macedon, NY, Zack Markel, Alex Markel, both of Prince George, VA, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her spouse, Walter Leach, whom she married Feb. 21, 1946; her daughter, Sharon Ann Markel, who died Oct. 9, 2009; her brothers, Robert Ingersoll, Leland Ingersoll and Lawrence Ingersoll; her sisters, Janet Butcher, Alberta Fritts, and Violet Johnson. Family suggests memorials to Cherry Creek - Leon United Methodist Church, Main Street, Cherry Creek NY 14723 or the Cherry Creek Fire Dept., Box 204, Cherry Creek, NY 14723. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Hills Funeral Chapel, 478 Balcom Corners, Rt. 83 South Dayton, NY. Rev. Bruce Fish of Cherry Creek - Leon United Methodist Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Villenova Cemetery, Town of Villenova. Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel on Friday from 2-4 P.M. and 7-9 P.M.
