Mark Russell appearance to benefit Robert H. Jackson Center

August 3, 2012
The OBSERVER

JAMESTOWN - The Robert H. Jackson Center said political humorist and entertainer Mark Russell will make a rare appearance at Chautauqua Suites in Mayville for "A Conversation with Mark Russell" on Aug. 5 beginning at 5 p.m.

A Western New York native, Russell retired from performing in 2010 after giving a show at one of his favorite venues, the Amphitheatre at Chautauqua Institution. Russell was perhaps best known for his PBS television specials, which aired regularly for nearly 30 years.

Of course, a "conversation" with Russell will likely feature his own unique blend of political stand-up comedy and musical parodies. A piano will be on-hand nearby, just in case Russell wishes to share some "new" material.

Tickets for the event are $57. Price includes dinner - a presentation plate of beef tenderloin and salmon - and the performance. To purchase tickets please contact either the Jackson Center at 483-6646, or Chautauqua Suites, 215 W. Lake Road in Mayville, 269-7829. Tickets are also available at the Watermark Restaurant in Mayville.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Robert H. Jackson Center's mission to advance the legacy of Robert H. Jackson through education and exhibits, and by preserving the relevance of his ideas for future generations. The Center is located at 305 E. Fourth St., Jamestown. Tours are available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. E-mail info@roberthjackson.org or visit online at www.roberthjackson.org. For information about upcoming Center programs, please contact the Jackson Center at 483-6646.
