Dunkirk sports meeting
All Dunkirk City School District student-athletes participating in varsity, junior varsity and modified sports for the 2012 fall season, along with their parents/guardians are strongly urged to attend a sports information meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8 in the Dunkirk High School Auditorium.
The fall coaching staff has been asked to attend this meeting so team meetings can be held after the general meeting. These team meetings will cover a variety of topics including, but not limited to, season expectations, team requirements, practice schedules and other pertinent information.
Required athletic forms will be available and can be completed prior to leaving for the evening. This meeting is an opportunity to ask questions and obtain information about the 2012 fall athletic season.

Also, any Dunkirk City School District student who is considering participating in the 2012 fall sports season must have an up-to-date physical on file with the respective middle school or high school nurse prior to participating in any practice sessions.
On Thursday, Aug. 9 at the Dunkirk Senior High School Nurse's Office, the school doctor will be available for those individuals still needing a physical. Initial paperwork must be filled out prior the physical exam - these forms (requiring parent/guardian signature(s))will be available beginning at 8 a.m. in the nurse's office. Physicals will begin at approximately 9 a.m.
Physicals for athletics are good for one year so students having physicals in June of 2012 do not need another physical until June of 2013.
All-County baseball tryouts
A 16-year-old All-County travel baseball team is forming for the summer of 2013. Tryouts for any player who will be 16 years old next will take place Tuesday at Bergman Park in Jamestown. The tryouts will last from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Randy Goss Memorial Golf Tournament:
The 2012 Randy Goss Memorial Golf Tournament has been scheduled for Aug. 18 and will be held at RoseBrook Golf Course in Silver Creek.
This is a two-person scramble format with a 9 a.m. shootgun start. The cost is $55 a person which includes golf, cart, skins, Closest to Pins on every hole, lunch, beer, pop and dinner to follow at RoseBrook. There will be a bus taking golfers from Dunkirk to Rosebrook and is limited to 72 golfers.
