Dunkirk Police are investigating an incident at a local bank involving a short change artist.

At 2:25 p.m. Thursday, a local bank was the victim of a larceny. The suspect kept exchanging different denominations of money quickly with the teller causing the teller to be confused. After the suspect left the bank, the teller discovered the bank drawer was $290 short.

The suspect is an elderly black male with a slightly husky build and is mostly bald with grey hair on the sides of his head. The suspect was wearing a black short-sleeve shirt at the time of the incident.

Any local banks or businesses are asked to contact the police department immediately if any of their employees encounter this suspect or anyone else attempting a short change scam.

Anyone with information can call the Dunkirk Police Department confidential tip line at 363-0313.
