Ripley woman strikes truck, building
RIPLEY - A Ripley woman was treated for injuries after the car she was driving veered to the right and struck a pickup truck and a building at 13 W. Main St. in Ripley on Friday morning.
Chautauqua County sheriff's deputies say Carol Abate, 66, was transported to Westfield Memorial Hospital via Ripley rescue truck with a wrist injury and abrasions. Abate was traveling west at 9:45 a.m. on West Main Street when she hit a parked pickup truck, occupied by George Bazzle, 55, of Ripley and two adult children as well as a utility pole causing minor damage to the pole. The building also received minor damage. No charges were filed but an investigation found that Abate may have had a reaction to medication before the accident.
Bazzle sought medical attention while the other passengers were not injured.
Sheriffs checking vandalism in Bemus Point
BEMUS POINT - Overnight on Thursday into Friday, it is believed that two subjects did criminal mischief to several buildings and vehicles on Lakeside Drive. The criminal mischief involved writing of sexually explicit nature on vehicles and buildings as well as scratching a vehicle. The Sheriff's Office is looking for assistance from anyone who may have seen people on the streets or have information in regards to the incidents.
Fredonia Police Department
Manuel A. Carmona Jr., 31, of Dunkirk was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing, endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree aggravated harassment. On July 31, at 11:15 a.m. the female victim came into Fredonia Police claiming Carmona had choked her earlier in the morning while he was driving. The incident had happened in front of children in the car as well. When the victim came to report the incident, Carmona allegedly called the victim multiple times after being told to not contact the victim by the victim. Carmona later turned himself in to Fredonia Police Department on a warrant and was held on $1,000 bail.
Shanna M. Eppinger, 26, of Wisteria Drive was charged with endangering the welfare of a child on July 30. At 8:55 p.m. police responded to Wisteria Drive for the report of a 4-year-old boy who was wandering outside by himself. Twenty minutes after arriving, police found Eppinger, the child's mother, who had left her house to go visit a friend on Wisteria Drive. She was released on her own recognizance.
Eric A. Wilbon, 20, of Brigham Road was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on July 31. At 10:58 p.m. police responded to the area of 90 Brigham Road for the complaint of loud music. When police arrived, they observed Wilbon smoking marijuana through the window. He was released on an appearance ticket.
Latoya D. Raymond, 28, of Jamestown was charged with a bench warrant on Aug. 1. Raymond was picked up by Jamestown Police Department and was turned over to Fredonia Police. She was released on her own recognizance.
John E. Swogger, 55, of Route 20, Silver Creek was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment on Aug. 1. Swogger was taken into custody in West Barker Common on an arrest warrant from a previous incident that occurred in July. Swogger allegedly called and left sexually explicit voicemails on the victim's phone.

RIPLEY - On Thursday, a North East, Pa. man was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child after an incident alleged to have occurred on May 9.
Around 4 p.m. on May 9 in the Town of Ripley, Michael A. Voorhis, 24, of North East, Pa., allegedly recklessly caused injury to a 5-month-old child. Said child sustained serious physical injury and was subsequently treated at Buffalo Children's Hospital.
After a joint investigation was completed by the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office, Child Protective Services of Chautauqua County and the District Attorney's Office of Chautauqua County, the charges of third-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child were laid before Judge Hustead of Ripley and an arrest warrant was issued.
Voorhis appeared before Justice Hustead on Thursday and was arraigned on the charges. Voorhis was released on his own recognizance and will appear again in court on a later date.
JAMESTOWN - On Monday, a suspect in a home invasion led officers in a high speed chase in Jamestown.
Around 4:35 p.m., a Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputy was attempting to stop a vehicle for suspected involvement of a home invasion in the Town of Ellicott. The driver of the vehicle allegedly did not stop and the pursuit continued into the City of Jamestown.
The suspect vehicle, driven by Tommy P. Williams, 50, of Jamestown, allegedly reached speeds in excess of 60 mph and traveled north on N. Main Street and west onto W. Fourth Street. The driver of the vehicle attempted to evade officers by pulling into the Ramada Inn Parking lot until striking a cement pillar, disabling the vehicle.
The suspect fled on foot into the hotel where he was apprehended. Williams was charged in the City of Jamestown with first-degree reckless endangerment, a felony; fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor; third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer, a misdemeanor; reckless driving, a misdemeanor; third-degree aggravated unlicensed operator, a misdemeanor; speed in zone, an infraction; and operating with an open container of alcohol, an infraction. The suspect is also facing several charges in the Town of Ellicott and other jurisdictions.
HANOVER - On July 29, a Cheektowaga man was charged with Aggravated DWI per se .18 percent blood alcohol content or higher (BAC), DWI and failure to stop at a red light.
Around 3 a.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies stopped a vehicle driven by Todd E. Pokorski, 35, of Cheektowaga, for failing to stop at the stop light at Alleghany Road and Route 5 and 20.
Upon investigation, Pokorski was taken into custody for DWI, issued appearance tickets and will appear in the Town of Hanover Court at a later date.
