Center for Peace and Justice concludes Nicaraguan Appeal

August 8, 2012
The OBSERVER

The Dunkirk-Fredonia Center for Peace and Justice (CPJ) collected humanitarian items throughout the month of July for poverty-stricken residents of the Central American nation of Nicaragua through Catholic social worker Ann Marie Zon of E. Amherst. CPJ secretary Rodney Houck reports that the donations fully filled a good-sized truck. Houck extends thanks to the donors, St. Joseph's Church in Fredonia for receiving numerous items especially when the Houck garage became filled and those who helped load the Zon-sent pickup truck.

Zon writes, "To say I am grateful does not even come close to what my heart holds, so we'll leave our feelings and gratitude in the hands of our dear Lord. May His blessings be beyond your hopes."

In light of the pickup truck's leaving Fredonia on July 31 before several donors brought their contributions, Houck recommends they give their items to the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry or the Salvation Army.
