Meeting postponed
The joint meeting of the Brocton and Westfield Boards of Education scheduled for today at 6 p.m. in Brocton has been postponed. The consultants who were to be interviewed by the joint Boards of Education have had to postpone the meeting. The meeting has been rescheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. and will be held in the Brocton Central School auditorium.
Car seat check today
Today from noon to 3 p.m., Midway Park, in conjunction with Chautauqua County Sheriffs' Office, is sponsoring a car seat check event. This event is intended to educate parents and caregivers in proper selection and installation of car seats. Officers will be assisting in ensuring that proper seats are installed for the safety of the children. There will be no enforcement activity at this event.
City Dem Picnic today
The City of Dunkirk Democratic Committee Annual Family Picnic will be held today at the large pavilion at Point Gratiot.
The event starts at 6 p.m. and features a barbecued chicken dinner with all the trimmings for $10 per person.

Dunkirk clerk closed
The town of Dunkirk Town Clerk's office will be closed on Thursday and Friday. The office will reopen on Monday at 9 a.m.

Gas prices rise
Average retail gasoline prices in New York have risen 4.9 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.79/g Sunday. This compares with the national average that has increased 9.3 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.60/g,
Candidate holding town hall meeting
Congressman Tom Reed will hold a public town hall meeting in Fredonia's Village Hall on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
"Being directly accessible is an important part of representation," Reed said. "Some of the best ideas we take to Washington come from town hall meetings. Topics for discussion will be whatever people choose. I hope that people will join the conversation. I am here to listen."
Reed, who currently represents New York's 29th District in Congress, has held more than 70 public town hall meetings during his first term. He will be the candidate of the Repub-lican, Conservative and Independence parties for the new 23rd Congressional District, which includes Chautauqua County.
