Phyllis G. Grimm, age 87, of North Main Street, Dunkirk, New York died Thursday August 9, 2012 at the Twin Brook Medical Center in Erie, Pa.
She was born on February 15, 1925 in Dunkirk, New York, the daughter of the late Michael and Mabel (Strychalski) Grupa. A life-long area resident, Mrs. Grimm worked as a nursing assistant for many years at the medical offices of Dr. Ernest Homokay in Silver Creek, New York. She was a member the Order of the Eastern Star of Gowanda, New York, a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the V.F.W. Samuel Cimino Post of Silver Creek, New York where she had served as a past president, and was an Auxillary member of the American Legion Post 62 of Dunkirk, New York.
Phyllis was a 1987 graduate of Suny Fredonia, Fredonia, N.Y. with a dual Bachelors degree in English and Psychlogy and also minored in Sociology. She was also a published poet.

She is survived by her children, Steven Randall (Toni Castiglia) Grimm of Stockton, New York; Randall Michael Grimm of Henrietta, New York; Eric Randall Grimm of Dunkirk, New York and The Rev. Charmaine (Lee Whitcome) Grimm-Yasav of Brocton, New York. She is also survived by her three sisters Delores Monroe of Sebastian, Florida; Maxine Kern of Dunkirk, New York and Marlene Petrella of Fredonia, New York, 10 grand children, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Randall Stevens Grimm, who passed away in 1994, and one brother Donald Grupa.
A Memorial Service will be held by her family in her honor at a later date. and will be announced by the Morse Funeral Home, Brocton N.Y. at that time. There will be no prior visitation.
