Legislation allowing the Thruway Authority to fund new economic development projects will extend tolls on the superhighway beyond their scheduled 1996 expiration. Gov. Mario Cuomo has signed the "Thruway 2000" bill which allows the Authority to help finance development projects along waterfronts, build a new interchange and take over the Barge Canal.

Thirty years ago - 1982

David P. Przybyla, formerly of Dunkirk, has accepted a position as assistant professor in the department of psychology at Colgate University in Hamilton. Mr. Przybyla is a doctoral candidate in the psychology program at the State University of New York at Albany. An alumnus of Dunkirk High School, he is the son of Alfred Przybyla, 102 Otter St., Dunkirk and the late Loretta Przybyla.

Forty years ago - 1972

Richard Irvin of Hanford Bay, who retired from the Federal Aviation Administration as assistant chief terminal controller at Buffalo Greater International Airport after 30 years of service, was honored at a retirement dinner in Buffalo.

Fifty years ago - 1962

Permission has been granted by the Dunkirk Zoning Board of Appeals to the Moniuszko Social Club for the construction of an addition to the existing clubrooms in Dunkirk.
