Twenty years ago - 1992

Sen. Jess J. Present, the endorsed Republican candidate for re-election to the 56th Senatorial district, recently opened his northern Chautauqua County headquarters at 52 East Main St., Fredonia surrounded by many of his supporters. Fredonia Mayor Lou Mancuso welcomed all the well-wishers and campaign supporters to the official opening.

Thirty years ago - 1982

Cassadaga Job Corps student Manuel Cruz became interested in boomerangs just within the past year. He recently took second place in the First Annual Boomerang Throwing Contest sponsored by the Buffalo Museum of Science.

Forty years ago - 1972

Our Lady of Sorrows Society of St. Mary's Church will host a reception to welcome the newly-assigned priests, the Rev. Robert G. Ichs, parish administrator; and his assistants, the Rev. James A. Walter and the Rev. James J. Lichtenthal.

Fifty years ago - 1962

Excelco Developments Inc. of Silver Creek has been awarded a contract for $27,900 by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in Washington, D.C. The contract is for investigating the techniques and feasibility for building large rocket boosters over 20 feet in diameter.
