Dunkirk Police Chief David Ortolano is reminding residents to be vigilant with activity around their neighborhoods.
"We've had a couple house entries and vehicle entries over the past few weeks," Ortolano said Thursday.
Ortolano wants to remind residents if they see or hear anything out of the ordinary to call the Dunkirk Police Department or 911 right away. Vehicle doors should be kept locked, and do not keep valuables in plain sight. Also keep doors and windows closed and locked when not at home. Adequate lighting around houses, including motion lights, are a good idea.
"Please pay attention and keep things locked up," Ortolano said.
Neighbors are also encouraged to pay attention and call right away if something seems suspicious or they see someone hanging around acting suspicious.
The police encourage calls even during the daytime.
