The M&T Charitable Foundation has awarded a $10,000 grant to Westfield Memorial Hospital Foundation to be used toward the purchase of upgrading technology hardware for the hospital, WMH Foundation Development Director Patricia DiPalma has announced.
The upgrade consists of 48 DELL OptiPlex 790 'All in One' Workstations with 19-inch monitors.
"This hardware is necessary as we implement a new McKesson order entry/documentation system. This system is to be used to insure that WMH continues to provide a hospital where the quality of patient information is higher and costs are lower for the tens of thousands of individuals who utilize the hospital each year," Patient Data Manager Cindy Harper said. "To avoid errors in transferring data from one department to another, or from one nurse/doctor to another, the on-line equipment will be available to all departments at the same time in "real time."
"Our decision to invest in the acquisition of computers for this project is our way of investing in Westfield Memorial Hospital and the future of healthcare for everyone in our community," Andy Cohn, VP of the Healthcare Services Group at M&T noted.
"On behalf of the entire WMH family, we extend our thanks to M&T Bank and its employees for their generosity," WMH Foundation President Rose Van Volkenburg said. "This gift of $10,000 is a true testament to the bank and its employees who believe that quality healthcare is vital for everyone. The WMH Foundation Board of Directors is very appreciative of this gift from M&T Bank."
DiPalma also expressed her gratitude to M&T Bank.
"I too, would like to thank M&T Bank and its employees for their kind generosity and for giving back to our community hospital. M&T's investment in Westfield Memorial Hospital will have far reaching effects for many years to come," she said.
As the major fund raiser for Westfield Memorial Hospital, the Foundation has been purchasing state-of-the-art equipment for more than 35 years as a non-profit entity. Currently, it is seeking a $46,500 contribution to add to the M&T grant.
In addition, the foundation's 2012 Campaign has begun its efforts to meet this year's $195,000 goal. For more information or to learn how to give, contact DiPalma at 716-793-2338 or visit its' website at www.westfieldhospitalfoundation.org.
