NCCS to hold back-to-school meetings

Northern Chautauqua Catholic School (NCCS) will conduct back-to-school mandatory parent meetings in August, in the school's gymnasium. Parents may choose one of two dates: Wednesday at 7 p.m. or Saturday, Aug. 25 at 10 a.m. For the Wednesday meeting, new families are asked to arrive at 6:30 p.m. for a 30-minute orientation; for the Aug. 25 meeting, new families are asked to arrive at 9:30 a.m. for a 30-minute orientation. Information about achievements from last year, news about upcoming fundraising events, tour of the grand re-opening of the school store, plus free giveaways can be expected. Candy bars at $40 per box will be available for fundraising efforts. Should a family be unable to attend either dates, contact hsa@nccschool.us.

Church plans VBS

Get an "Extreme Makeover with Jesus" at Vacation Bible School at Pleasant Valley Methodist Church in Kabob. It will be held Aug. 27 through 31, 9 to 11:30 a.m. All children entering kindergarten through fifth grade are welcome.

VBS to start Aug. 26

The Lake Shore Community Chapel at 4552 W. Main Road will have a Vacation Bible School beginning Sunday, Aug. 26, through Thursday, Aug. 30. The theme is "Voice of the Martyrs - touring five countries." There will be Bible studies and stories of those who have suffered for the name of Jesus. Along with the study, there will be games, songs, skits, snacks and crafts. Each evening's activities begin at 5:30 p.m. and conclude at 7:30 p.m. This VBS is for all ages and includes adults. Steak dinner set for today

St. John's United Church of Christ, 733 Central Ave., Dunkirk is having a Swiss steak dinner today from 4 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $7.50 pre-sale and $8 at the door. Call the church office for tickets at 366-0710, or any church member. Take-outs are available.

'Babylon' VBS to begin Monday

"Babylon - Daniel's Courage in Captivity" Vacation Bible School, will take place next week, Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to noon at Christ Community Church, 219 Berry St., Fredonia.

Monday's registration opens at 8:30 a.m.

Fredonia First United Methodist Church, First United Presbyterian Church of Dunkirk, and the Christian Worship Center in Fredonia are partnering with Christ Community Church to host Babylon.
