The Collage Performing Arts Center announces the recent accomplishments of its four competitive dance teams. The New York Majestic Junior-senior competitive dance teams and the Hot-Shot and Dazzlers Dance teams have qualified for the 2013 Universal Dance Association National Dance Team Championships. The dance teams have qualified for the dance nationals for 19 consecutive years. CPAC high school, junior high and youth dance teams attended a five-day UDA summer dance intensive and regional dance championship at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. The competition hosted dance teams from throughout the northeast battling for a spot to compete at the prestigious national dance championships held in February 2013.
The NY Majestic junior/senior dance teams have 20 team members in grades seven through 12. Naomi Greenstein serves as senior team captain. The teams are coached by Marci Williams-Hadley and Jenna Lee Mansfield. The senior team earned a first place finish in the compulsory jazz dance category, First place in the pom division and earned the qualifying points for a spot at the UDA national dance championships receiving the "Superior Team" trophy for their efforts performing their home pom routine. The senior team was also honored to receive the Team Spirit Award for their enthusiasm and perseverance throughout the workshop and competition.
The Junior NY Majestic team earned a superior rating on their home pom routine and were awarded a trophy and a bid to compete at Nationals in February. The team had the highest score on the combination dance incorporating, jazz, pom, hip hop and high kick choreography into one routine. The Junior Majestic team earned the Choreography "Full Out" Trophy for incorporating the most unique choreography into the compulsory team routine. The team elected Sarah Hill as team captain.

The Hot-Shot dance team has 10 competing middle school team members and performed "I Hate Boys" in the junior high jazz dance division. The team qualified to compete at the national championships for the fifth consecutive year and received special recognition for their technical skills. Alizee Dziduch and Mary Barnes served as team captains for the Hot-Shots team.
The 2009 National Pom Dance Champion, The Dazzlers, participated and competed in the summer intensive for the fifth year. Boasting a first place superior award for their jazz dance to the song "Wild Child", the dance team is eligible to compete in the UDA Youth National Dance Team Championships again this year. Kaylee Hamm served as team Captain.
The Collage competitive dance teams will be traveling to Orlando, Florida in February 2013 to compete in the United States largest national dance competition that is also televised on ESPN. Only teams that compete and win at the regional competitions are permitted to compete at the UDA nationals. The competition is held at the Walt Disney World Wide World of Sports complex. All four teams will compete in two separate divisions, pom pon and jazz dance.
Several outstanding dancers competed in the individual "All-Star" competition at Slippery Rock University. These dancers were required to attend extra dance classes and perform jazz, pom, hip-hop and high kick dance skills in a routine judged by a panel of five professionals. Majestic senior team members Annie Barnes, Naomi Greenstein, Heather Dorler, Samantha Pucci were selected as outstanding UDA All-Americans. The Senior UDA All-Americans received gold medals for their accomplishment and received an invitation to perform in the Macy's Day Parade over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Four middle school students were selected as Junior All-American Dancers after attending extra dance classes and competing for the honor of Junior All-American. Mary Barnes, Alizee Dziduch, Hannah Fetterick, Emma Seiders all received gold medals and were invited to participate in the Liberty Parade in Philadelphia on Thanksgiving Day.
The New York Majestic junior/senior dance team members were selected in June through team auditions. The Hot-Shot and Dazzlers dance team members receive invitations based on skill level, attitude and practice attendance records. The teams perform at many area summer events. The team recently performed in the Mayville Fourth of July Celebration Parade and also performed at the Chautauqua County Fair Cheerleading and Dance Extravaganza and The Chautauqua County Fair Collage Talent Hour. The four teams will be performing at the Fredonia Farm Festival parade in August and the Grape Festival parade in Silver Creek in September.
All dance team members receive their dance technique training at the Collage Performing Arts Center. The Collage will be holding its annual fall dance class registration on Saturday, Aug. 25 and Saturday, Sept. 1, from 10 a.m. to noon each day.
