Gowanda neighborhood holds first block party

August 19, 2012
The OBSERVER

GOWANDA - On July 27, the first Maple Avenue street party was held. The event was hosted by Karen and Corey Clabeaux. It was a night of food, family, friends and community. The theme of the party was getting to know your neighbors and learning to look out for each other.

One couple who attended the event has have lived on this street for over 60 years and another resident lived on the street for over 40 years. Ironically, this party was the first time they had a true opportunity to talk to each other. This gathering also proved be a meet and greet for folks new to the neighborhood.

"We hope other streets continue this trend. Gowanda is a great community and if we all make an effort to know our neighbors better we will see our entire community grow in a positive way," Karen Clabeaux said.
