Dunkirk Watermain shutdown Tuesday

There will be a watermain shutdown on Tuesday night, Aug. 21 from 11 p.m. until 3 a.m. for the purpose of relocating a section of the watermain related to a box culvert being replaced by the New York State Department of Transportation. The watermain affected is on Lake Shore Drive (Route 5) in Dunkirk from Wilbur Street for a half mile to the west on Lake Shore Drive.

'Babylon' VBS to begin Monday

"Babylon - Daniel's Courage in Captivity" Vacation Bible School, will take place this week, Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to noon at Christ Community Church, 219 Berry St., Fredonia.

Monday's registration opens at 8:30 a.m.

Fredonia First United Methodist Church, First United Presbyterian Church of Dunkirk, and the Christian Worship Center in Fredonia are partnering with Christ Community Church to host Babylon.

Babylon is for children from 3 years old to those leaving fifth grade. For more information, call Christ Community Church at 673-1661 or call Angie Bacon at 595-2945. To pre-register, visit www.cccfredonia.org and follow the VBS link. Pre-registration is appreciated but not required.

Chautauqua County Soil & Water Conservation District to meet Friday

The Chautauqua County Soil & Water Conservation District board of directors will hold its next regular meeting on Friday, Aug. 24 at 9 a.m. in the district office at 3542 Turner Road, Jamestown.
