Twenty years ago - 1992

After 23 years of ownership, the Federal National of State College in Pennsylvania has sold the Days Inn on Bennett Road to Fredonia Motel Inc., a family-run corporation. The four owners in the Fredonia Motel Inc. bought the Days Inn July 2. Restaurant manager Satish Patel is leasing the new restaurant "Kasi" and lounge. The Days Inn was formerly the Holiday Inn before changing franchises in June 1989.

Thirty years ago - 1982

The Most Rev. Edward D. Head, bishop of Buffalo, announces the appointment of the Rev. Gerald P. Sheehan to his first pastorate at St. John Bosco Church, Sheridan. His appointment is effective Sept. 4. Ordained in 1964, Father Sheehan is presently assigned to Nativity of Our Lord Parish in Orchard Park. He also has served on the Marriage Tribunal as an Advocate and Defender of the Bond.

Forty years ago - 1972

David McCord of Sheridan received the National Association of Animal Breeders Award for breeding more than 35,000 cows.

Fifty years ago - 1962

Dunkirk citizens would like their community to have more industry and job opportunities, new school facilities and a recreation center. This was indicated in the community attitude survey conducted by the Dunkirk-Fredonia Jaycees last March.
