Sheriffs deputies probing personal injury accident

GERRY - On Sunday at 1:30 a.m a personal injury accident occurred on Route 60, south of Terry Road.

The initial investigation reportedly shows Kris Sos-inski, 48, of Dunkirk was operating a motorcycle north on Route 60. A tractor trailer driven by Matthew Numeracki, 27, of Cheek-towaga, was also northbound. Numeracki was passing Sosinski when at some point, Sosinski made contact with the trailer, causing him to lose control of the motorcycle and crash.

Numeracki was not injured. Sosinski was taken by the Gerry Fire Depart-ment to WCA Hospital with what turned out to be non-life threatening injuries.

The Chautauqua County Accident Reconstruction Team assisted at the scene. The investigation is continuing and charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.

Jamestown woman involved in accident

CARROLL - On Sunday, Sherell Baker, 54 of Jamestown was traveling northbound on Route 62 when she swerved to miss an animal and lost control of her vehicle. Baker's vehicle crossed over into the southbound lane and onto the shoulder of the highway where she struck two traffic signs. Baker overcorrected, causing her vehicle to cross over both lanes of traffic, overturning and coming to rest in a ditch.

Baker was taken from the scene by Starflight to Hamot Medical Center for evaluation of her injuries.

Little Valley man charged with sexual abuse of children

LITTLE VALLEY - On Friday, Eric A. Kuhaneck, 20, of Little Valley was charged with two counts of first degree sexual abuse, a class D felony, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

Investigators from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation report that on Aug. 15, Kuhaneck had sexual contact with two six-year-old children.

The defendant was arraigned in Salamanca Court where he was held on $2,500 bail and remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail.

Man charged with felony driving while intoxicated

On Saturday, Joseph B. Keyser, 42, of Cassadaga was charged with felony driving while intoxicated.

State police based out of Fredonia responded to a report of a man slumped over the wheel of a vehicle at the intersection of Route 20 and Route 60. When they arrived, the driver had awakened and walked into a local restaurant. He was identified by another motorist as the driver who had been sleeping. Keyser was taken to state police barracks in Fredonia. Since he had a conviction in the previous 10 years, the charge was a felony.

Keyser is scheduled to appear in the Town of Pomfret Court Tuesday.

SILVER CREEK - On Thursday, Fredonia troopers detained Jesse S. White, 29, of Bush Road Gowanda on a felony bench warrant issued by the Erie County Sheriff's Department. The bench warrant was for second-degree criminal mischief, a class D felony.

White was stopped on for an uninspected motor vehicle. He was turned over to the Erie County Sheriff's Department.

On Saturday, troopers charged Joseph Jagoda, 22, of Dunkirk for driving while intoxicated on Route 20 in Fredonia. Jagoda reportedly went over the center line and then the fog line while traveling east. He reportedly failed field sobriety tests and later provided a breath sample with a blood alcohol content of .17 percent.

He was issued tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Village of Fredonia Court on Sept. 12.

On Saturday, Robert Hannah Jr., 20, of Fredonia was detained for active arrest warrants from the Chautauqua Sheriff's Office and the City of Dunkirk for felony criminal mischief and third-degree assault.

Hannah was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for having no brakelights. Troopers recognized him. Hannah was turned over to the Sheriff's department and remanded to jail.

On Saturday, Daquan Smith, 17, of Deer Street in Dunkirk was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and one county of a controlled substance outside the original container.

A report of a male in the roadway on Route 60 in the Town of Dunkirk was made. Police located Smith in the Jamestown Community College (north) parking lot. It was reported he was in possession of a small amount of cocaine and several Alprazolam tablets, generic for Zanax.

Charges are to be answered in the Town of Dunkirk Court on Aug. 27.

SHERIDAN - Paige Niedbalski, 21, of Irving was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and unlawful possession of marijuana following a traffic stop Sunday at 12:15 a.m.

Troopers reported Niedbalski was seen tailgating a vehicle eastbound on Route 20. She reportedly failed several field sobriety tests. An inventory search of the vehicle reportedly found her in possession of a smoking pipe with burnt marijuana residue.

Niedbalski was processed at the Fredonia barracks where she provided a breath sample that was reportedly .19 percent blood alcohol content. She is to answer the charged in the Town of Sheridan Court on Sept. 13.
