At the most recent Dunkirk City Schools Board of Education meeting, it was revealed the cost of school meals is going up, primarily due to a lack of bids from food service providers.
Sodexho Management provided the sole bid after Personal Touch did not bid after requesting - and receiving - a considerable amount of information, according to Business Administrator William Thiel.
Breakfast will now cost the school $1.75, lunch around $2.38 and snacks about 77 cents. "This is a significant increase for us," according to Thiel.
Despite concerns, the board approved the bid from Sodexho as the provider because no other vendors were available.
During the meeting, two resignations were accepted. Mary Dobek resigned as teacher due to retirement, and Monolito Cruz resigned as maintenance worker.
