Clarabelle J. Gens, 79, of Fredonia died Wednesday night (Aug. 22, 2012) at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk. She was born May 10,
1933 in Dunkirk, the daughter of the late Herman and Hazel (Apthorp) Woodcock. A lifelong resident of the area, Mrs. Gens was a homemaker. An avid bingo player, she attended St. John's United Church of Christ and Chautauqua Adult Day Care, both in Dunkirk. Survivors include four
sons, Willard (Anita) Milliman of Richmond, Va., Henry (Valerie) Milliman of Jamestown, John (Zoe) Milliman of Silver Creek and Michael Milliman of
Fredonia; three daughters, Beverly (Mike) Shoemaker of Sinclairville, Susan Milliman of Jamestown and Ruth (Robert) Friedman of Indian Shores, Fla.; one sister, Rachel Jesionowski of Fredonia; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Gens; four sisters; and two brothers. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock in St. John's United Church of Christ, Dunkirk. The Rev. Thomas Lawton will officiate. Burial will be in Sheridan Cemetery. Calling hours will be held today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Chautauqua Adult Day Care.
