WESTFIELD - All students, teachers and other school personnel are invited to receive a special backpack blessing on Sunday, Sept. 2 during the 10 a.m. worship service, at St. Peter's, 12 Elm St., Westfield. Prayers for safety, achievement and growth throughout the coming school year will be offered. Students should bring their backpacks.
The backpack blessing is an opportunity for families and friends to connect with others who care. This service recognizes the importance of the children and school personnel. It reminds them that a community of people is praying for them. Everyone is welcome to attend.
New for this year is a dynamic Sunday school program developed by St. Peter's own parishioners. The first class will begin the following Sunday, Sept. 9, at 9:45 a.m. This will be a class rotation program that teaches the same Bible story over a four- to six-week period. The church will create a full and rich experience that will utilize various activities such as crafts, videos, music, cooking, and drama. St. Peter's is fortunate to offer the special talents of our own parishioners to provide this experience. Read more at St. Peter's Sunday school on the web.
All attending are asked to plan to stay for light refreshments and friendly conversation afterwards.
