Scouts recognize Outstanding Leaders at event

August 26, 2012
The OBSERVER

The Brocton/Dunkirk/Fredonia and Cassadaga Girl Scout Service Units recently held an adult recognition night. Honorees included Melissa Seavy and Julie Devlin who were awarded the Outstanding Leader award for the 2011-2012 scouting year. Each leader was awarded a certificate signifying their recognition, along with a bouquet of flowers. Amy Jo Dorler, service unit manager, read parts of the letters of recommendation written by the parents of girls in their troops.

The evening also included a brief ceremony prepared by Dorler reading a poem entitled, "Recipe for a Girl Scout Leader" and the singing of the song, "On My Honor." Guest and former service unit manager Donna Brisky was introduced and refreshments included a birthday cake made by Lori Felt, which continued the celebration of the founding of the organization 100 years ago.
