Hillview Golf Course

Friday Evening Couples League - The format was a four-player scramble with a "mulligan" bonus. The first-place team with a score of 32 was Jim and Jane Ellman and Chuck and Carole Hudson. The second-place team with a 33 was Larry and Rosemary Tibbetts and Jim and Pam Waite. There was a four-way tie for third with 34. They were the teams of George and Pam Allessi and Paul and Theresa Leone; Chris and Priscilla Penfold and Sue Slate; Wink/Pat Daniel and Larry Wollert and Judy Waterman; and Pat and Bobbi Deering and Bob and Jan Manning. Next, with a score of 35 was Jack and Carol Hood and Pete and Colleen Borzilleri; and Dennis and Cheryl Gawronski and Fritz Worosz and Pat Kaus. Next was John and Paula Lakas and Dave and Colleen Paradis. Closest to the pin on the second shot on No. 2 was the team of Tibbetts and Waite. Closest to the pin on No. 5 was the team of Allessi and Leone. Closest to the pin on the second shot on No. 6 was the team of Tibbetts and Waite. Closest to the pin on No. 9 was the team of Allessi and Leone.

After two rain delays Sunday, the Member-Guest at Chautauqua Point was completed. Winners of B-Flight were Steve Elliott and Harry Sinden with a three-day net score of 185. Second place was won by Dick Prince and Doug Burnside with a score of 186. First place in A-Flight went to Chris Elliott and John Sirianno with a 177 and second place went to Todd Martin and Dale Tremblay with 180. The overall winner was Mike Harle and Randy Lobb with a score of 174.

The Girls4 Golf Tuesday Night League - A fun night was played with three-women teams competing playing best ball. Low score was won by Nancy Phillips, Linda Prince and Vicki Westling with a score of 38. High score was taken by Sue Hertlein, Sue Michalski and Suzanne Elias with a score of 45. Low putts was won by Sue Gotowka, Debbie Yerico and Sally Giambrone with a total of 13 putts. The league will have its year-end banquet at The White Inn today with cocktails at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. Team standings and prizes will be awarded at the banquet.

Ladies League - Low gross: Chris Shrader 45, Joyce Bigelow 47, Lynn Gotsch 47, Gail Maloney 48, Kim Gier 48. Low net: Cheryl Horschell 35, Sue Bastedo 35, Rosemary Dippert 36, Cheryl Murphy 36, Andrea Parshall 37, Kathy Rathburn 37, Dawn Zopp 38.

Westfield One-Pitch tourney

The 35th annual Westfield One-pitch Softball Tournament was held on Saturday, Aug. 25. The McKinley Eagles from Massillon, Ohio, won by defeating Lil Magills from Fredonia/Dunkirk in the semifinals and Team Jose of Jamestown in the finals. McKinley won all six games they played on Saturday. The other team in the semifinals was Nasty Dogs II from Jamestown. All proceeds from this year's tournament will go to the Woody Keyser Scholarship Fund at WACS.

Silver Creek wins Fire

Dept. Softball Tournament

Joe Kapa singled in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Silver Creek Fire Dept. edged the Sunset Bay Fire Dept. 8-7. Kapa added a double while Stacy Bauer had a double among two hits. Hermie Griewisch, Adam Graf and Richie Bartlett Jr. each had two hits.

Rob Weiskerger and Chad Ellis led Sunset Bay with three hits each while Tim Parsell added a pair of base knocks. Sunset's Meghan Covert was voted Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

The Forestville Fire Dept. earned third place with its 16-15 victory over the Sheridan Fire Dept.

Kyle Barthel led Forestville with a home run and three singles while Katie Thompson added three hits.

Lee Szalkowski led the Sheridan Fire Dept. with a home run, double and single. Jim Mays added a home run and a single while Nicole Szymczak had three singles.

A total of $530 was raised to be donated to the Forestville Fire Dept.

Lucky Lanes Junior Bowlers

Registration for the 2012-2013 season will be held on Sept. 1, Sept. 8 and Sept. 9 at Lucky Lanes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.

The registration fee is $17. Youth bowler ages range from 4 to 20 years old as of Aug. 1. Teams may be all boys, all girls or mixed. Leagues will start Sept. 15. All bowlers from age 6 to 20 will have their choice of bowling at either the 10 a.m. or the 1 p.m. shift each Saturday. Bowlers of ages 4 and 5 will participate in the Bumper Buddies league, which bowls at 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

Travel softball tryouts

The Jamestown Nike Elite travel softball team will be holding open tryouts today at the Eagan Sports Complex today from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The tryouts are free and open to all girls ages 9-16.

All participants must have a parent sign a permission form.

Silver Creek Modified Volleyball Tryouts

Girls in the Silver Creek School District who are entering seventh or eighth grade are invited to attend modified volleyball tryouts. There will be open gym and paperwork handout at the Elementary School gymnasium Thursday, Aug. 30. The first official day of practice will be Friday, Aug. 31.
