The Men's Club Championship was held over the weekend, with Dave Newton taking the overall championship with his two-round total of 149, shooting a 74 in the first round and a 75 in the second.

Al Etzel won the A Flight while John Popp took home the top spot in the B Flight.

A Steeplechase Tournament was held on Aug. 19, with Ron Rys taking first place, Blake Ihrig second and Derek Dawson third.

Meeting for Thursday 'B' League Set

There will be an organizational meeting for the Thursday 'B' League on Thursday at 7 p.m., at Lucky Lanes. All team captains or team representatives are urged to attend.

Wing City/Ebonite Thursday Night League

There will be a meeting of the Thursday Night Doubles League this Thursday at 8:30 p.m.

The meeting will be held in the Lucky Lanes' in the Pro Shop. All returning bowlers, and any one who may want to bowl, should show up.

Registration for the 2012-2013 season will be held on Sept. 1, Sept. 8 and Sept. 9 at Lucky Lanes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.

The registration fee is $17. Youth bowler ages range from 4 to 20 years old as of Aug. 1. Teams may be all boys, all girls or mixed. Leagues will start Sept. 15. All bowlers from age 6 to 20 will have their choice of bowling at either the 10 a.m. or the 1 p.m. shift each Saturday. Bowlers of ages 4 and 5 will participate in the Bumper Buddies league, which bowls at 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

4-Man League

The annual captains' meeting for the Wednesday Nite 4-Man League will be at 7:30 p.m., at Lucky Lanes, in Fredonia, today. All team captains and any new individual bowlers or new teams are urged to attend. For more information call Lucky Lanes at 673-1375.

Silver Creek Modified Volleyball Tryouts

Girls in the Silver Creek School District who are entering seventh or eighth grade are invited to attend modified volleyball tryouts. There will be open gym and paperwork handout at the Elementary School gymnasium Thursday, Aug. 30. The first official day of practice will be Friday, Aug. 31. Gowanda Co-ed Youth Soccer Begins Sept. 10

The Gowanda Co-ed Youth Soccer program will hold practices on five consecutive Monday nights beginning Sept. 10. All sessions will be held from 5:30-7 p.m., at the George Dispenza Memorial Field on Broadway Road. Students ages 5-12 are eligible to attend.

Seneca Party to Host Golf Tournament

The Seneca Party will hold a golf tournament on Monday, Sept. 17, at the Double Black Diamond Golf Course, located at Holiday Valley.

A lunch will be held at 11:30 a.m., with a shotgun start to follow at 1 p.m. A dinner and an awards ceremony will be held at 5:30.

Swim Club

The Hammerhead Swim Club is a sanctioned member of the Niagara District of USA Swimming. The 2012-2013 season will begin Sept. 17 at 6:15 p.m. at the Fredonia State University pool in Steele Hall. The club is designed to instruct youth age 6-18 in the four basic stroke techniques and condition them for competitive swimming.

Registration is now open for The Gary Tripp Memorial Golf Tournament being held Sunday, Sept. 9 at Shorewood Country Club.

The cost is $90 per golfer with dinner to follow at the Kosciuszko Club.

Apple Seed Christian Preschool's 4th Annual 5k Run/Walk

The Apple Seed Christian Preschool is getting ready for its Fourth Annual 5k Run/Walk fundraiser. The event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6, at Welch Field on Third Street, in Westfield, between Elm and Union streets.

Registration and check-in for pre-registered racers will begin at 8 a.m., with the race beginning at 9. Pre-registered participants will receive an event T-shirt.

Runners, walkers and those who want to cheer them on are all welcome to attend. Any area businesses interested in sponsoring the event should call 326-2110.

This event directly benefits the Apple Seed Christian Preschool students.

Jamestown Bowling Company Marathon Tournament

The 17th Annual Labor Day Marathon Tournament at Jamestown Bowling Company will be held Monday, Sept. 3 at 10 a.m.

The format will be 10 games across the house with the total pins plus handicap to determine the winner.

Prizes will be awarded to the top nine finishers as well as the high scratch. Jackpots, brackets and eliminators will be available.

Gowanda Slow Pitch Softball Tourney Set for Sept. 2

The 16th Annual Gowanda Men's Slow Pitch Softball Tournament is set for Sunday, Sept. 2.

This is a double-elimination tournament. Batters will start with a 2-1 pitch count. Entry fee is $65 per team.

Fall Soccer Signups

for Westfield, Ripley, Brocton and Mayville

There is still time to sign up for fall local youth soccer program. Applications can be picked up and turned in at the Village of Westfield window in Eason Hall, 23 Elm St.

Applications can be mailed in. Signups are for children ages 4-11 (for children turning 4 by Sept. 4 and not turning 12 until Oct. 28). Games will begin Sept. 8 and end Oct. 27.

The fee is $20 for the first child, $15 for the second and $10 for the third (max. of $45 per family), but scholarships are available if needed.
