Early Childhood Conference registration deadline Sept. 13

On Oct. 13, the Chautauqua County Association for the Education of Young Children (CCAEYC) will hold its 23rd Annual Early Childhood Conference at McEwen Hall, SUNY Fredonia from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The conference is co-sponsored by SUNY Fredonia College of Education, Chautauqua Opportunities Inc., Chautauqua County Reading Council and Campus and Community Children's Center. The conference is open to child care professionals, teachers, students, and agencies as well as members of the community.

Keynote speaker for the event will be Dr. Mary Shea, Graduate Literacy Program Director at Canisius College, Buffalo, New York. Dr. Shea, who has authored books and teacher guides including Taking Running Records and Parallel Learning of Reading and Writing in Early Childhood, will present "Interactive Read Alouds: Time for Sharing, Learning, and Enjoying Literature." Several workshops will follow including those with an Infant/Toddler, Preschool, and School-Aged focus.

The cost for student CCAEYC members who pre-register for the conference will be $10 and $15 for non-student members.

The cost for CCAEYC members who pre-register will be $20 and $25 for non-CCAEYC members. For those who do not pre-register, the cost will be $30 at the door.

Vendors and agencies are invited to rent a table for a cost of $10 and a donation of a raffle item and should contact Chris Wigren at 661-9430 x 290 or go to ccaeyc.org for a vendor participation form.

Vendor participation forms received by Sept. 13 will give the vendor the opportunity to be listed in the conference program free of charge.
