The OBSERVER

St. Joseph RC Church, Fredonia, was the setting for the June 2, 2012, nuptial Mass uniting Alana Margaret Hens, daughter of Deacon Matthew and Mary Jane Hens of Fredonia, and Michael David Flitt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Nancy) Flitt of Dunkirk. The wedding ceremony was performed by the father of the bride. The Rev. Charles A. Zadora, pastor, celebrated Mass and gave the blessing. The Rev. James L. Fugle concelebrated and delivered the homily. Deacon Michael Lemieux assisted.

Music was provided by Lucy Hurley, piano and organ, Virginia Miller, vocals, and Lucyanne Georger, violin. A communion meditation was sung by the bride's mother and sisters Lauren Helper and Maria Hens. Readings were proclaimed by Jane Russo, godmother of the groom, and Jeanne Malovich, godmother of the bride. Petitions were read by Fred Tripp, godfather of the groom, and Steve Malovich, godfather of the bride. Gifts were presented by Mr. and Mrs. John (Margaret Long) Hens and Linda Maggio, grandparents of the bride, and Virginia Pasierb, grandmother of the groom.

The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a strapless white-on-white Casablanca empire-waisted gown of organza crystal taffeta with a beaded lace applique skirt finished with a scalloped hem. Her illusion veil was hand sewn by her great aunt, Rose Casillo. She carried a bouquet of white roses and blue delphinium.
