Editor, OBSERVER:
As a former town justice for the Perrysburg town court, I am writing this letter to share my thoughts with the Perrysburg residents on the upcoming primary election and general election for town justice.
As most of you are aware, Lori Dankert is the current town justice for Perrysburg. She is seeking her second four-year term as town justice this November. I wrote a letter to the editor back in 2008 regarding Lori, who was then running for her first term as justice. I stated in that letter how valuable Lori Dankert is to the town of Perrysburg, especially to the court. She was the court clerk for eight years and then was successfully elected to her current position as town justice in November 2008.
For those of you who don't know Lori, she is a very efficient, reliable and knowledgeable town justice. She has been on her own working as the only justice in the town since the elimination of the second town justice position last year. Her ability to deal with the public, law enforcement, attorneys and most importantly the defendants who appear in the court is beyond outstanding. I know how many hours a week she puts in working for the court. She spends countless hours at the town hall, never complaining and always giving 110 percent. She is on call 24/7, and she takes her job seriously. We need more people like Lori to hold these elected positions within our town. She is dedicated to the community in which we live.
Living in the center of Perrysburg, I can tell you that the police presence in this community has increased over the last one and a half years. I know the caseload in the court has increased drastically since I was in office. And you can surely tell by Judge Dankert's monthly reports printed in the paper that this is the case. For a small community, we have a very active court.
With that said, I want to encourage all of you to head to the polls on Primary Day, Thursday, Sept. 13 and the General Election, Tuesday, Nov. 6. Vote Lori Dankert for town justice!
JONETTE L. TABER,
Perrysburg
