Twenty years ago - 1992

Tim Newton, son of Norman and Shirley Newton of Irving, has been named director of communications and editor of The Purdue Alumnus for the Purdue Alumni Association, effective Sept. 1. A graduate of Silver Creek Central School, Mr. Newton earned a bachelor's degree in communications from Purdue.

Thirty years ago - 1982

The Cassadaga Job Corps Center has announced the appointment of Mary Jane DiPietro as the new recruitment specialist for the Center. Her responsibilities include recruiting and screening Job Corps applicants for possible enrollment in the Cassadaga Center's academic and vocational training program. The major scope of her recruitment efforts will be concentrated in the Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Erie County areas.

Forty years ago - 1972

Dave Graf, former Dunkirk High School gridiron star, is currently taking part in fall workouts at Penn State University in preparation for the 1972 football season.

Fifty years ago - 1962

St. Anthony's Chapel in Fredonia was completed recently and has seen use at funeral services. It is located at the rear of St. Anthony's Cemetery on McAllister Road.
