Team New Era 12-U Baseball team won the WNY Boys of Summer Travel League Championships. Team New Era faced 13 other teams from Western New York and Southern Ontario throughout the season. Cassadaga Valley 36, Frewsburg 20
The Cassadaga Valley Varsity Midget Football Team improved its record to 2-0 by defeating the Frewsburg Bears.
Jon Benedetto led the Cassadaga Cougars with 101 rushing yards and three touchdowns. C.J. Kubera added 68 rushing yards and one touchdown. Benedetto connected with Jacob Beebe on a 95-yard pass play that resulted in a touchdown.
For Frewsburg, Cordell O'Brien rushed for 129 yards and had two touchdowns. Jared Sanfilippo also added a touchdown after recovering a fumble. Defensively for the Bears, Sanfilippo, Joe Martin and Autin Orr all had 10 tackles.

STAR Swimming announces 2012-2013 Short Course swim programs
STAR Swimming will hold open registration for the 2012-2013 Competitive Short Course swim season and its new "Competitive Swim Experience" program during the week of Sept. 17.
Register for either program during the first week of practices. Practices are held as follows: Monday, 5:30-7 p.m. at Frewsburg High School pool; Tuesday and Friday, 6:30-8 p.m. at Southwestern Elementary pool; Wednesday and Thursday, 6-7:30 p.m. at Jamestown High School pool.
New this fall is a "Competitive Swimming Experience" program. STAR is offering a six-week program, beginning Monday, Sept. 17, to introduce those who are interested in competitive swimming, without the 26-week commitment. Training sessions are one hour long, three nights a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday). Program concludes with a swim meet for those who want to compete.
STAR swim team is open to all ages and no experience, other than being able to swim one length of the pool on front and back, is required. Short Course season is a 26-week program running from mid-September to mid-March. Performance team members are encouraged to swim five days and Developmental (formerly Advanced Beginners) team members are scheduled in the pool Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

All swimmers should come prepared to swim, bring swimsuit, towel, water bottle and goggles.
Fredonia Basketball Clinic
The Fredonia boy's basketball program will be hosting open basketball "Drills & Skills Clinic" for all boys who are residents of Fredonia entering grades 2-8.
The clinic begins Wednesday, Sept. 12 in the Fredonia High School gym. This weekly clinic will take place on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8 p.m. during the months of September and October.
Participants will focus on learning the game of basketball with an emphasis on skill development and game participation. Contact coach Lauer or coach Bertrando at 679-1581 for more information.
Thunder Softball Tryouts
The Thunder Softball 12-U 14U will be holding tryouts for their 2013 tournament team on Saturday and Saturday, Sept. 15 from 9-11 a.m. at the Pine Valley Elementary School field.

Wednesday Morning Ladies Purple Posse League - This week's game was team scramble. The winning team was Janet Guenther, Barb VanDette and Marie Aniszewski. The Purple Posse will be playing again on Sept. 12 with a meeting at 9:30 a.m. and tee off at 10 a.m. The rest of the month the game will be a scramble with a shot gun start. All skill levels are welcome.
