One dead in Route 60 accident

One person is dead following a two-car motor vehicle accident on Route 60 near Cassadaga Valley Central School.

At 3:35 p.m. Sunday, the Sinclairville and Gerry fire departments were called to a head-on collision near the school. At the time of the call, the coroner was requested at the scene. Alstar ambulance also reported.

According to Doug Goodwill, first assistant chief of the Sinclairville Fire Department, a male was dead at the scene.

"He apparently died before his car drifted across the road," Goodwill said.

When the car drifted across, it struck a vehicle driven by an unidentified woman. She was taken to WCA hospital with minor injuries.

Chautauqua County Fire Police directed traffic around the accident by using Moon Road. A Chautauqua County Sheriff deputy was on the scene when the road was reopened at about 5 p.m

The New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Team was called to the scene to investigate.
