Woma lifts Hillbillies past Panthers in OT

OBSERVER Staff Report , The OBSERVER

PORTVILLE - Julius Woma scored 50 seconds into the first overtime Friday night in Portville, helping the Fredonia Hillbillies (2-1-0) past the Panthers, 1-0, in non-league boys' soccer action.

"It was the longest game in history," Fredonia head coach Jeff Walker joked. "We had four lightning delays, so it ended up being a three-and-a-half hour game. Our defense did great shutting them down and our midfield really controlled the ball for a good percentage of the game."

Nick Hart had two saves to pick up the shutout.

The Hillbillies will be back in action on Thursday, when they travel to take on the Westfield Wolverines.
