Adult interest courses offered at Pine Valley Central School

SOUTH DAYTON - The following adult interest classes are being offered at Pine Valley Central School this fall:

An AARP Driver Safety Program (Insurance/Point Reduction) class will be held on Sept. 25 & 26, from 5-8 p.m .in the Jr./Sr. High School Study Hall. Cost is $17/person for AARP Members and $19/person for non-AARP members payable the first night of class - only checks payable to AARP are accepted.

Sponsored by AARP, this course is designed for the older driver.

Participants must be present for the entire eight hours to be eligible for a 10 percent reduction on liability and collision insurance. (Check with your insurance agent.)

A Dog Training class taught by Tom Beitz will be held from 7-8 p.m. on Oct. 4, 11, 18 & 25 in the Elementary Gym.

Cost is $125 payable the first night of class. Puppies (12 weeks or older with updated immunizations) and dogs permitted.

The class will cover the basic commands such as walking on a loose leash, sit and stay, coming when called and the down command. Many of the common behavior problems such as housebreaking, jumping, nipping and chewing will be covered as well.

Equipment: Students will need a neck collar for their dog (no harnesses) and a 6-foot nylon or leather leash (no retractable leashes) to begin the class. Aggressive dogs are NOT permitted in the program.

A Stamp-a-Stack: Make Your Own Christmas Cards class taught by Karen Volk (Stampin' Up! Demonstrator) will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Nov. 5 in the Elementary Board Conference Room (#5). Make 10 cards for $12 (with your adhesive) or $17 would include a Stampin' Up! Snail adhesive. (Refills $4)

All materials are pre-cut and ready for you to make the cards assembly-line style. You make the cards at your own pace. You'll make 10 cards, 2 each of 5 different designs. You should plan on three hours to make your cards. Please bring your own paper scissors and bone folder, if possible.
