Fredonia Titans 12, New Era 3

Derrick Walters pitched a complete game, striking out five while strong defense made 16 outs in the field.

Offensively, Fredonia was led by Jared Kowalski (double and single), Alec Schrader (two singles) and Walters (two singles). Brendan Plaister doubled and Tyler Winchell singled and had three RBI's in the game.

Tyler Majka retired three base runners from the catcher position.

Hammerhead Swim Club

The Hammerhead Swim Club is a sanctioned member of the Niagara District of USA Swimming.

The 2012-2013 season will begin Sept. 17 at 6:15 p.m., at the Fredonia State University pool in Steele Hall.

The club is designed to instruct youth age 6-18 in the four basic stroke techniques and condition them for competitive swimming.

Witch Kitch Pig Roast

Feegan's Witch Kitch will be hosting a pig roast on Sunday, Sept. 16 from 1-8 p.m. to benefit the Cassadaga Midget Football program. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Please call the Witch Kitch at 962-8333 with questions or for tickets. Tickets will also be available the day of the event.

Cassadaga 40, Westfield 36

The Cassadaga Cougars improved their record to 3-0 by outlasting the Westfield Golden Hawks 40-36. Jon Benedetto had an outstanding game for the Cougars with 241 rushing yards and four touchdowns. C.J. Kubera added 47 yards and a touchdown. Titus Miller and Caleb Hillman connected on a 31-yard pass for an additional Cougar score. Defensively, Benedetto had seven tackles while Cameron Brainard and Chris Dutton each had five tackles in the win.

For Westfield, Chris Catalano had 153 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Max Bates added a touchdown on a 75-yard reception.

Bemus I 1, Westfield 0

Bemus I defeated Westfield 1-0 in Game 1 on Saturday, in Westfield. Jack Novotny scored the lone goal off an assist from Andrew MacCullum.

Adult Running

Chautauqua Striders Running and Walking Club

Three members of the Chautauqua Striders Running and Walking Club performed well recently at the Dunkirk Triathlon & Duathlon. Patty Gabreski finished fourth overall and first in her age group in the intermediate triathlon with a time of 2:46:21. Rachel Curtin placed third in her age group in the sprint triathlon with a time of 1:31:58. Melinda Lawson-Crabtree was the first overall female finisher in the duathlon with a time of 1:30:51.
