Fredonia ZBA tables church decision

September 12, 2012
By SHIRLEY PULAWSKI - OBSERVER Staff Writer , The OBSERVER

A public hearing before the Village of Fredonia Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) originally scheduled for Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. in the Village Hall has been moved to Oct. 9 at 6 p.m.

On Aug. 14, a public hearing was held before the ZBA to consider the application for a use and area variance of Fredonia Baptist Church. The church wishes to construct four dormitory units and a two bedroom apartment at 19 Church St. in the village.

As proposed, the construction would be in violation of a village of Fredonia zoning code.

The nature of the violation is that the use is not permitted because the floor area does not meet the 300 square feet occupancy space required and six more parking spaces are required, one for each unit.

The matter was tabled at the hearing, after the zoning board requested more information from the church representatives.
