SINCLAIRVILLE - Cassadaga Valley (2-1, 1-0) got a lot of defense and enough offense to drop Falconer (1-2, 0-2), 21-0, Saturday afternoon, during Class C South football action.
"The defense went to the ball very well," Cassadaga Valley head coach Nick Spitzer said. "We pressured their quarterback and that was one of our big concerns, how much Falconer was throwing the ball this year."

The Cougars held Falconer to 3-of-22 through the air for 17 yards while limiting the Golden Falcons to 72 yards rushing on 30 carries.
Despite losing four of their five fumbles, the Cougars were able to pound out 276 yards on 40 carries and three touchdowns, but it was the defense that made the best impression on Spitzer.
"Our defense shined (Saturday)," Spitzer said. "Our offense, obviously with the fumbles, couldn't sustain any sort of a drive. But we were lucky enough to walk away with a league win. But definitely our defense was key to our win (Saturday)."
"We work on ball security just about every day in practice," Spitzer continued. "Some (fumbles) are unavoidable like when (the defense) gets a helmet on the ball, but I always tell the boys that they're going to face adversity."
Jordan Boughton got the Cougars on the board first, scoring on a 78-yard run to help put Cassadaga Valley up 7-0 in the second quarter.
"Playing hard is not something that in Cassadaga Valley we have a problem with," Spitzer said. "It's the little things we have to execute to take our program to the next level."
After a scoreless third quarter, the Cougars found the end zone twice in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Dakota Morano scored on a 35-yard scamper while Jarett Blizzard added a 30-yard jaunt for the game's final score. Tage Reuther connected on all three extra points for the Cougars.
