Dunkirk High School Class of 1977 recently held its 35th reunion. On Friday evening classmates met at Rookies on the Lake for an informal get together. Joining the 1977 classmates was their foreign exchange student Martina Kast who traveled from Cologne, Germany, to attend. Anna R. Salagdo traveled from Georgia and made a surprise appearance to the delight of her classmates. Much reminiscing was shared throughout the evening.
On Saturday the classmates met at Barts Cove and Marina on Lake Erie for cocktails and a picnic-style dinner. The Rev. Carl Richter (husband of classmate Martha Snyder Richter) led the class in the dinner prayer and a special remembrance blessing for each of the 21 deceased classmates: Edward Altweis, Sammy DeJesus, Kevin Swoyer, Daniel Kozlowski, James Kozlowski, Mario Lena, Dale Schrantz, Richard Skrypek, Edmund "Edziu" Szwejbka, Michael Wheeler, Tab Wincenciak, Roberta Zielinski, Diann Kulig, Dawn Koch, Mary Bielawski, Cathy Olszowa, Timothy Dutton, Michelle Klocek, Dwayne Jones, Benjamin Beatty and Martin Cieslik.

A 50/50 drawing was held to raise funds for the next reunion kitty. Ted Fitzer was the winner and he graciously donated his winnings back to the class of 1977.
Reunion committee members included: Robert SanGeorge, Charmaine Komada Christopher, Pam Miller Pokoj, Sandy Bremer Jakubowski and Shelley Kruszynski Jakubowicz.
It was suggested that an informal "35 plus two-year" reunion be held in summer 2014. And also plans for a formal 40th reunion and possible reunion cruise in 2017.
