City man nabbed on crack cocaine charges

September 22, 2012
The OBSERVER

A city of Dunkirk man was arrested Friday on charges related to crack cocaine sales after a nine-month investigation into the sale of crack cocaine in the city.

During the investigation, Dunkirk Police detectives and agents from the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force conducted surveillance, identified customers and were ultimately able to make undercover purchases of crack cocaine from Rodney Hawkins Jr., 24, of 62 E. Courtney St. Based on these purchases, an arrest warrant was issued by Dunkirk City Court Judge Walter Drag.

At about 5 p.m. Friday, Dunkirk Police patrol officers were able to locate Hawkins as he entered a shopping center parking lot near Fourth and Main streets. He was taken into custody without incident.
