Twenty years ago - 1992

Mrs. Tina Edson of Sinclairville has signed a contract to carry an embryo for an infertile Canadian couple. She expects to be artificially inseminated within the next month or two. In return, Mrs. Edson will receive a $10,000 payment from the couple as well as having all medical and incidental expenses paid. A new state law prohibits payments to women who become pregnant for other parents, but since her contract was signed before the law went into effect, Mrs. Edson is exempt.

Thirty years ago - 1982

Daryl P. Brautigam has joined the law practice of Robert H. Daley in the Fenner Building, Fredonia. A 1981 graduate of Cornell Law School, he was designated a Charles Evans Hughes Scholar and was winner of the 1980 Sutherland Cup Moot Court Competition. Mr. Brautigam is a Chautauqua County native and was the salutatorian of Sherman High School's graduating class. He went on to receive a B.A. summa cum laude from Houghton College in 1977.

Forty years ago - 1972

The Very Rev. Godfrey Kasper, CP, has been installed as rector of the Holy Cross Apostolic Center. His term of office will end in June 1974.

Fifty years ago - 1962

The Super Duper Market in the village of Brocton was recently purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Otto Buettner of Erie, Pa.
