SILVER CREEK - The Anderson-Lee Library concluded its 2012 summer reading program with a celebration that included a puppet show, balloon sculptures, a pizza and cupcake party, and a bicycle raffle.
Around 40 children and 20 adults were entertained by Kathleen Jeffers and her Puppet Power puppet show. Following the show, each child was presented with their own balloon sculptures which included funny hats, pets on leashes and pirate swords. The library also raffled off prizes for children who entered a literary poster contest. The winner of the grand prize was Mac Wong, who won the "General Lee" BMX bicycle which was donated by Silver Creek summer resident Luis Alcivar. Mac submitted a poster on the book, "The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse," by Anne McKie. Other winners received prizes including gift certificates to the Book Nook and to Frosty Treat, as well as backpacks and books.
Children who attended the final celebration received a book prize of their choice to take home, and everyone was treated to pizza, cupcakes, and other tasty treats. It was a wonderful finale to a very successful summer reading program.
