STOCKTON - The Stockton recreation department had a good summer, Joelle Dziduch, the department's supervisor, told the town board at its recent meeting. While fewer children participated, the program ran for eight weeks instead of the traditional six weeks, so the children who participated actually got more time.
Besides Joelle, her sister, Jenna, and B.J. Monacelli staffed the program.
Joelle told the board about some of the activities that were part of the summer, such as Olympic Week during the time the Olympics took place, weekly trips to Cassadaga beach, and a trip to Waldemeer Park in Erie, Pa.

Joelle Dziduch, Stockton Recreation Supervisor, presents Stockton Supervisor David Wilson with a large thank-you card, signed by children participating in the Stockton summer recreation program. Dziduch also reported to the board about this summer’s program. She hopes to run an 8-week program again next year.
Joelle presented a large thank-you card to the board signed by the children who attended. Supervisor Dave Wilson accepted the card with a smile.
Councilman John Beichner expressed his appreciation to Dziduch for the work she and her staff had done.
"I've said it before - the children are our future, and I am glad we can provide a program for the kids. You and the staff do a great job," he said.
Councilman Bryan Meder chuckled as he looked at the signature of his young daughter, Brandi. She wrote her name in capital letters. Her name was the biggest on the card.
Wilson commented, "I have heard good things about our kids from Cassadaga. They have said our kids are well- supervised and don't cause a problem. I think Joelle and her staff are the reason."
Joelle stated that she would like to run an 8-week recreation program again next year. The board agreed she could do that if she stayed within the budget.
"I know you don't do it for the money," said Beichner.
