Lake Erie NY Chapter 4 of the Blue Star Mothers will be meeting on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the VFW in Dunkirk at 10 a.m. Any mothers of military past or present, or anyone wanting to support the troops are welcome to join in.
The group are currently looking for deployed addresses for its Christmas collections and donations for those packages from the community. If anyone has a family member or friend who will be deployed, or serving overseas and not able to be home with their families this Christmas, the Blue Star Mothers would love to add their address to the mailing list.
The group is also looking for handwritten Christmas cards and letters to include with the care packages.
"We are proud mothers of military - some of our children are currently serving, some have served, and some are deployed," said member Susan Rowley of Westfield. "Thank you for helping us by donating to our efforts whenever you see one of our collection boxes."
