September 30, 2012
The OBSERVER

JAMESTOWN - On Sept. 29, a Jamestown man was charged with felony aggravated DWI (Leandra's Law), DWI, DWI per se blood alcohol content (BAC) of .08 percent or higher, first-degree felony aggravated unlicensed operation, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, fail to stop at stop sign, and fail to signal turn.

Around 1:40 a.m., sheriff's deputies observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign and fail to signal a turn. The vehicle was stopped on Chandler Street in Jamestown. The operator was identified as Shell S. Raymond, 44, of Jamestown. Following an investigation, Raymond was found to be operating in an intoxicated condition and was arrested for DWI. Due to the fact that there were two children in the vehicle, ages 8 and 11, Raymond stands charged with a felony under Leandra's Law. Additionally, Raymond did not possess a valid driver's license, and records showed he had nine suspensions and/or revocations. One of those revocations was for a previous DWI arrest, causing him to be charged with felony aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree. Raymond also has five scoffs on three dates for failing to answer various summonses. Following processing, Raymond was held in the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment.

On July 16, deputies harvested a small amount of marijuana growing on the property at 107 Valley St. in Mayville. After the investigation was completed Suanne Carroll, 54, Eric Courtier, 23 and Robin Johnson-Dearing, 19, all of 107 Valley St. were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Courtier was also charged under the public health law for unlawful growing of marijuana. All three are to appear in the Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date.

At about 7:10 p.m., deputies responded to a possible intoxicated person in a vehicle at the Chautauqua Lake Central School parking lot. Upon arrival and further investigation it was determined that Jason Adams, 39, of Bemus Point, was intoxicated and drinking alcohol on school property in his vehicle with the engine running. Adams was arrested for DWI, aggravated DWI and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle. He will appear in the Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date and time.
