Wednesday Travel League

Senior Travel League - Ed Tofil shot 80 in heavy rain to beat the field at Beechwood Golf Course in Fairview, Pa. It was Tofil's 20th career victory and he was low on both the front (39) and back (41). Pete Gawron won the B Flight and Angelo Leone won the C Flight on a tiebreaker over Jack Griswold. Winner of the Commissioner's Award was Doug Keith.

Untied birdies were recorded by: A Flight - Gary Richardson (Nos. 3 & 4), John Bongiovanni (Nos. 5 & 18) and Tofil (No. 9); B Flight - Dave Franklin (Nos. 7, 8 & 14), Butch Mackowiak (No. 9), Gawron (No. 13) and Bob Manning (No. 17); C Flight - Doug Newman (No. 2), Lee Titus (Nos. 3 & 15), Griswold (No. 11) and Gary Haase (No. 18).

Closest to the pin were Newman (No. 2), Titus (No. 10) and Bob Thompson (No. 15). Top point winners were Richardson (36), Titus (23), Newman (19) and Franklin (18). Youth Football

Sherman/Ripley 40, Cassadaga 20

Sherman/Ripley Wildeagles defeated the Cassadaga Cougars on Saturday, 40-20. Sherman's offense was led by Aaron Swan, who had a 63-yard kick return for a touchdown and a 40-yard run for a touchdown. Bryce Rowe had a pair of rushing touchdowns and Korey Ayers had a rushing touchdown. Also chipping in on offense was Tyler Meredith with 97 yards receiving and one touchdown. The Wildeagles defense was outstanding again this week.

For the Cougars, the offensive standouts were Jon Benedetto with two rushing touchdowns and C.J. Kubera added another touchdown. Defensively for Cassadaga, Jon Benedetto, Cameron Brainard and Daniel Torres each had six tackles.

Bills Booster Club

The Southern Tier Bills Booster Club will watch the Buffalo Bills vs. San Francisco 49ers game on Sunday at the Dom Polski Club. Chicken and biscuits will be provided at halftime. A dish to pass is optional.

Gowanda Ski Registration Set For October 22

The Gowanda Recreation "Learn to Ski" program at Holiday Valley will hold registration in the Village Board Room located at 27 East Main Street on Monday, Oct. 22 from 6-8 p.m. Students who attend Gowanda and neighboring school districts must be in grades 5-12 in order to participate.

The cost to join the eight-week, Sunday evening program is: $210 if you own your equipment, $300 if you need to rent skis and $325 if you need to rent a snowboard.
