Southwestern sweeps Fredonia

Southwestern came into Fredonia on Friday and made quick work of the Lady Hillbillies, as the Lady Trojans swept their way to a CCAA Division 1 volleyball win.

Maddie Alexander registered 10 assists, six aces and five kills as Southwestern won 25-21, 25-17, 25-10.

"Southwestern played pretty good volleyball," Fredonia coach Chris Anderson said. "We weren't ready to play tonight. It was a rough night."

Jackie Gullotti added five kills, two aces and six digs while Cara Schutte recorded 13 assists in the win.

Fredonia was led by Maddy Crandall's six assists and four kills while Alyssa Crespo added five kills and an ace and Margaret Wright was good for 12 digs.

Both teams' next game is against Division 1 foe Olean. Southwestern hosts the Lady Huskies on Friday while Fredonia travels to Olean on Friday.

Non-league action

Pine Valley 20 10 16

SOUTH DAYTON - Pine Valley stayed close to Clymer in the first game, but the Lady Pirates pulled away for an eventual sweep, Friday in a non-league girls high school volleyball match.

Dani Reinwald's 12 kills paced Clymer (8-3, 7-3) to a 25-20, 25-10, 25-16 win.

Kayla Mansfield led the Lady Panthers (3-5, 4-9) with four kills and 15 assists while teammate Erin Waterman chipped in four aces.

Pine Valley returns to CCAA Division 3 play, Thursday with a match at Panama.
