Twenty years ago - 1992

A "Do You Remember?" photo shows the Erie Hotel, which was a part of Dunkirk's Union Depot for many years. Built in 1866, it had 100 rooms and was noted for its fine cuisine and conveniences that included baths and steam heat. John J. Murphy was manager at the turn of the century and for many years later.

Thirty years ago - 1982

A new creative playground was built over the weekend at the Cassadaga Elementary School. The project was initiated by the Cassadaga Parents Club. Residents donated their time and equipment for the project. The playground is one of at least three built in northern Chautauqua County in the past few months.

Forty years ago - 1972

Alice Farver, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Farver of Ellicott Road, Brocton is the Student of the Week. She is a junior at Brocton Central School.

Fifty years ago 1962

Robert Mills of Westfield has announced he will open up a bakery in the Russo Building, next to the Greyhound bus terminal in Fredonia. The new establishment will be known as the Fredonia Bakery.
