As residents of the village of Forestville, it was with deep disappointment that we read the recent letter in the OBSERVER criticizing Bill Bentzoni, our street and water superintendent.
We have lived in the village for almost 40 years, and have never witnessed such a negative group of people who are regularly attending Village Board meetings and finding fault with just about everything Mr. Bentzoni does.
Some of these people have been attending meetings for years, but when there are vacancies on the board, they are the first to say no when they are asked to run for a vacant board seat. Yet they are there monthly to criticize a man who works hard daily to get the job done and protect and improve our water, our streets and our village.
Last week, residents of our village received a letter from the mayor and Village Board, detailing the progress on our current water improvement project.
We now have made considerable progress on the water project with the addition of two water wells, and will soon begin the replacement of major water mains. Mr. Bentzoni has worked hard to keep our aging water system running until this project becomes a reality.
He recently worked tirelessly on Bennett State Road to repair serious water line deficiencies there.
We are concerned that the constant, unfair criticism by a small group of people may force a good man to look elsewhere for employment.
If this occurs, it will be a serious loss for our village, and I suspect that we may have a difficult time attracting another person of Mr. Bentzoni's dedication and ability.
